Project SMEQA: A two-day workshop held

Within the project “Strengthening Capacities and Mechanisms for Enhancement of Quality Assurance System in Higher Education in Bosnia and Herzegovina“ (SMEQA), there was a two-day workshop at the Faculty of Political Science of the University of Banja Luka on 24 and 25 March 2025.

A workshop “Support to external quality assurance: Strengthening the capacities of quality assurance system in higher education” gathered the representatives of higher education institutions, competent government services, and partners from Croatia and Slovenia.

During the two days, topics such as the role of agencies for quality assurance in education systems, institutional support to higher education institutions, education of experts and educators, including students in the quality management process, and dialogue with competent bodies (institutions), were discussed. Representatives of international partners, the Agency for Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Croatia (AZVO) and the National Agency for Quality in Higher Education of Slovenia (NAKVIS), used interactive sessions to share their experiences in the development of external quality assurance, expert education, support to higher education institutions, and inclusion of students in quality management. 

The goal of Erasmus+ project SMEQA is to strengthen capacities and mechanisms for the improvement of the quality assurance system in higher education through developing modern accreditation models harmonized with ESG standards, strengthening institutional cooperation and preparation of the system for full membership of BiH in the European Association of quality assurance agencies for higher education and European Registry of agencies for quality assurance in higher education.
