Initial meeting within the RDBiH project

A two-day initial meeting within the Erasmus+ CBHE project “Development of Research&Development strategies and centers in Bosnia and Herzegovina (RDBIH)” was held on 12 and 13 February 2025 at the University of Sarajevo.  

The University of Banja Luka and the Faculty of Economics participate as partners in this international project aiming to strengthen the research and development capacities (R&D) in Bosnia and Herzegovina through developing strategies and establishing R&D centers.  

The specific goals of the project enclose the development of research and development strategies at the level of entities and cantons in BiH, establishing R&D centers at universities, and creating a network of these centers countrywide.  

Institutions participating in the project were presented during the first day of the meeting, while on the second day, the Steering Board and the Local Board were formed, followed by the first meeting of the Steering Board. There followed a workshop dedicated to key aspects of project implementation, including dissemination, sustainability, quality control, monitoring, analysis of results, and defining the benchmarks for 2025. An Action plan was also defined for the first year of implementation of the project, including the traveling schedule, while particular attention was dedicated to financial and administrative reporting procedures, and signing partnership agreements.  

The Project, coordinated by the University of Novi Sad, commenced on 1 November 2024, and will last 48 months.  

It gathers 15 partners, including leading universities in BiH, international partners, and competent ministries: University of Banja Luka, University of Istočno Sarajevo, University of Zenica, University of Tuzla, University of Sarajevo, University of Mostar, Technical University of Ulm (Germany), University of Macedonia (Greece), Ministry of Scientific-Technology development and Higher Education of the Republic of Srpska, Ministry of Science, Education, Culture, and Sports of Herceg-Bosnia Canton, Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of West Herzegovina Canton, Ministry of Education and Science of Tuzla Canton, Ministry of Science, Higher Education, and Youth of Sarajevo Canton, Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Zenica-Doboj Canton, and BIT Alliance in BiH.  

This meeting is a significant step towards the realization of project goals, and the partners present considered strategic guidelines and future activities within the RDBIH project.
