An invitation to participate in the scientific conference “Society and Politics”

A scientific conference with international participation “Society and politics”, with the topic “Labor and migrations in transformation processes in Southeast Europe and beyond”, will be held on 25 and 26 September 2025 at the Faculty of Political Sciences of the University of Banja Luka (FPN UNIBL).

The goal of the conference that is taking place for the sixth time is to contribute to the wider discussion about labor and migrations, taking into account the ways the transformations impacted changes in regimes and labor practices within and beyond Southeast Europe (SEE).

Key dates:

• Deadline for submission of abstracts and panel proposals: 15. April 2025.

• Information about acceptance: 1. June 2025.

• Scientific conference: 25 – 26 September 2025.

• Deadline for submission of papers: 10. October 2025.

• Information about acceptance of papers: 21. November 2025.

The conference is organized within the project “Enhancing Capacities for Quality and Impactful Research on Transformations, Labor and Migration in Southeast-Europe” (RETLAMI-SEE), financed by the European Commission within the Horizon Europe program.

The organizer of the event is the Faculty of Political Sciences of the University of Banja Luka in cooperation with the University of Vienna - Research Center for the History of Transformations (UNIVIE RECET), The Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts - Institute of Culture and Memory Studies (ZRC SAZU), and Leibniz Institute for East and Southeast European Studies (IOS) in Regensburg.
