Meeting with the Ministry of Science and High Education of Russia

Delegations of the University of Banja Luka and University of Istočno Sarajevo, headed by rectors, prof. Radoslav Gajanin, PhD and Prof. Milan Kulić, PhD, participated in a meeting at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, chaired by the Deputy Minister, Constantin Mogilevsky.

Mogilevsky pointed out that despite the geopolitical situation in the world, the interaction between Russia and the Republic of Srpska actively develops further in the humanitarian sphere, as witnessed by a high number of signed agreements between higher education institutions, where the two largest universities in the Republic of Srpska have cooperation with 45 Russian universities. As mentioned during the meeting, strengthening of cooperation may be expected in the future period, especially in the realization of joint study programs and participation in scientific-researching projects.

Rector Gajanin said that the University of Banja Luka cooperates with 30 universities from the Russian Federation, and that there are regular visits and exchanges of students between the parties. Speaking of proposals for improvement of mutual cooperation, Rector Gajanin said a good idea would be establishing special financing funds to sponsor exchanges of students and staff.

Besides the two rectors, the meeting was also attended by the Vice-rector for International Cooperation and Quality Assurance at the University of Istočno Sarajevo, Prof. Marko Gutalj, PhD, Chief of Office for International and Inter-University Cooperation at the University of Banja Luka, M.Sc. Djordje Kenjalo, and advisors to the Head of the Republic of Srpska Representation Office in Russia, Ala Alekseyevna Blinova and Jelena Kurenkova.

From the Russian side, the following participated in the meeting: Rector of Ivanofsky State Energy University, Prof. Grigory Vasilievich Leduhovsky, PhD, Rector of Samarsky State Technical University, Prof. Dmitry Yevgenievich Bikov, PhD, Rector of Voronezh State Forestry-technical University, Prof. Michael Valentinovich Drapaliuk, PhD, Rector of National Researching State University „Lobachevsky“ of Nizhny Novgorod, Prof. Oleg Vladimirovich Trofimov, PhD, the first vice-rector of the Pskov State University, Olga Alexandrovna Sjerova, and Acting Vice-Rector – Head of Department of international cooperation at the Institute of Russian language „A.S. Pushkin“, Prof. Svetlana Georgievna Persianova, PhD.
