Vice-Rector for Material and Human Resources Prof. Dalibor Kesić, PhD, is taking part in the 8 th Joint Science Conference within the Tenth Anniversary of the Berlin Process Summit.

During the event in Berlin, Vice-Rector Kesić met on 30 September 2024 with the President of the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina Gerald Haug.
The motto of this year`s conference is "Courage for Future". The event is attended by a large number of distinguished guests, including, among others, Germany’s Education Minister Bettina Stark-Watzinger, and the former head of European diplomacy, now the Rector of the College of Europe, Federica Mogherini.

The Berlin Process is a joint initiative of 16 European countries and the European Commission that supports efforts to integrate the region into the European Union and fosters regional cooperation. The process covers areas such as bilateral dispute settlement, acceptance of the rule of law, connectivity and economic development, as well as strengthening cooperation in education, science (research and innovation) and inter-societal dialogue.

On the other hand, Leopoldina as a national academy has a leading role in the field of science, education and society. The Academy gathers key actors of the education and science system in the Joint Scientific Conference of the Berlin Process.

Leopoldina was founded in 1652 as a classical scientific society and now has 1600 members from almost all branches of science. Since 2008, Leopoldina has been the German National Academy of Sciences, which has two goals - to represent the German scientific community at the international level and to provide science-based advice to policy makers and the public.
