Minister Jelena Begović Visited the University of Banja Luka

On 26 June 2024, Rector of the University of Banja Luka Prof. Radoslav Gajanin, PhD, talked with the Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovations of the Republic of Serbia Jelena Begović, PhD.

At the meeting in the Rectorate of the University of Banja Luka, Rector Gajanin pointed out that our higher education institution has excellent cooperation with universities from Serbia.

The Rector stressed that the University of Banja Luka has a Centre for Entrepreneurship Support, and expressed hope that the newly established Science and Technology Park of the Republic of Srpska will further connect the academic and business community.

"The University of Banja Luka is a reliable partner in projects, I am sure that the academic communities of the Republic of Srpska and Serbia together can make excellent project proposals" Rector Gajanin says.

Among other things, Minister Begović points out that industrial doctorates are being introduced in Serbia as a new form of perception of knowledge and science, as applied science is a global trend now. As she stated, it is a great chance for the development of science.

Among the activities of the ministry she manages, she particularly highlighted the launch of the portal for the research structure. As she explained, the goal is to make this a regional platform for sharing scientific infrastructure and knowledge.

The meeting was also attended by the Minister for Science and Technological Development and Higher Education Asst. Prof. Željko Budimir, PhD, who pointed out that the strengthening of cooperation between the Republic of Srpska and Serbia continues, because it is a strategic goal.

"We want to raise the visibility of the University in the field of technical and natural sciences, but also to develop national identity related scientific fields" the minister said.

This meeeting was also attended by the vice-rectors of the University of Banja Luka Prof. Milica Balaban, PhD, Prof. Aleksandar Ostojić, PhD, Prof. Dalibor Kesić, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy Prof. Saša Čvoro, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics Prof. Radoslav Dekić, PhD, Prof. Biljana Lubarda, PhD, Asst.
