Meeting of the Confucius Institute Steering Board Held
University of Banja LukaGeneralThe meeting of the Confucius Institute Steering Board of the University of Banja Luka, where the activities of this institute in the past period were presented, was held on 27 June 2024.
As could be heard at the meeting held at the Rectorate of the University in Banja Luka, one of the main goals of the Confucius Institute is to promote Chinese language among pupils, students and the wider public, while the ultimate goal is to strengthen cooperation between the Republic of Srpska and the People`s Republic of China. As to the activities carried out by the Institute up to date, the most important is certainly the establishment of the Sinology Study Programme at the Faculty of Philology of
the University of Banja Luka. More to this, thanks to the Confucius Institute at the University of Banja Luka, a great number of cultural events have been organized, and many works have been translated.
The Confucius Institute also helped in strengthening the cooperation of our university with Chinese higher education institutions, and it intermediated in organizing a series of visits for official delegations.
Thanks to the Confucius Institute, many professors and teaching assistants of the University of Banja Luka had the opportunity to visit China, and a number of other activities were likewise organized.
The Steering Board meeting was attended by the representatives of the Confucius Institute founders - the University of Banja Luka and Tianjin University of Technology and Education (TUTE), namely the rectors Prof. Radoslav Gajanin, PhD, and Prof. Zheng Qingchun, PhD, as well as the members of the Steering Board Prof. Biljana Antunović, PhD, and Prof. Ranko Škrbić, PhD, and the directors of the University of Banja Luka Confucius Institute Asst. Prof. Ljiljana Stević, PhD, and Prof. Luo Xiaoru, PhD.
The vice-rectors of the University of Banja Luka Prof. Dalibor Kesić, PhD, and Prof. Milica Balaban, PhD, as well as Director of the TUTE Office for International Cooperation Zhang Lei, were also present.
