Contracts Signed for the Implementation of 24 Projects
University of Banja LukaGeneralThe ceremonial promotion and signing of 24 contracts on implementation of projects, for which the Government of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina provided BAM 400,000, was held on 11 March 2024 in the Administrative Centre of the Government of the Republic of Srpska in East Sarajevo.
These are projects approved through a public tender for the financing of projects that will be jointly implemented by scientific communities from Vojvodina and the Republic of Srpska.
Minister for Scientific and Technological Development and Higher Education of the Republic of Srpska Asst. Prof. Željko Budimir, PhD, said that significant progress has been achieved, as from the former six projects, 24 contracts of approved projects have been signed.
Budimir emphasized that these are projects that both Serbia and the Republic of Srpska need, which locate problems in technical, natural, and social sciences, which strengthen Serbian identity and raise the possibility of better understanding the problems on both sides of the Drina River, and they are viewed as a unique issue.
Provincial Secretary for Higher Education and Scientific Research Prof. Zoran Milošević, PhD, pointed out that the projects, approved on the basis of the implementation of the Cooperation Agreement between the governments of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina and the Republic of Srpska, represent an important issue of connecting the scientific communities of the University of Novi Sad, the University of Banja Luka and the University of East Sarajevo.
He added that the approved projects are the best indicators of unity in science, culture, and education.
Rector of the University of Banja Luka Prof. Radosav Gajanin, PhD, thanked for the support and emphasized that it is important that the number of projects financed by the Provincial Government grows every year.
"The most important activity is research and the formation of teams that will apply together, not only for local, but also for international projects", Rector Gajanin said and emphasized that among the participants in the projects of the University of Banja Luka are representatives from five faculties, namely from the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Technology, Faculty of Agriculture. Faculty of Law, and Faculty of Political Science.
Rector of the University of East Sarajevo Prof. Milan Kulić, PhD, said that the University of East Sarajevo would not be able to survive without the help of universities from Serbia and that he hopes that after the implementation of these projects, the results will be published in international journals, which are very important in order to improve the university's position on international lists.
