Prof. Dražana Tošić, PhD, Invited to Give a Lecture in Japan
University of Banja LukaGeneralProf. Dr. Dražana Tošić from the Faculty of Mining Engineering of the University of Banja Luka, based in Prijedor, was invited to give a lecture at the International Joint Workshop and Conference on Sustainable Resource Development towards the Carbon Neutrality, held at Kyushu University, in the Japanese city of Fukuoka, from 27 November to 1 December 2023.
Prof. Tošić presented on the topic of development of numerical modelling of sustainable mining practices on bauxite deposits in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The international workshop and conference organized by the Cooperative International Network for Earth Science and Technology (CINEST) and Akita University in Japan brought together experts from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan, South Africa, Botswana and Japan.
Participants also had the opportunity to visit the Higashitani Limestone Quarry and the Kyushu Cement Plant of the Mitsubishi Corporation, the Omuta Miike Coal Mine and the Unzen Volcano on Japan's southernmost main island of Kyushu.
The stay and participation of Prof. Dražana Tošić in Japan was enabled by the International Center for Research and Education on Mineral and Energy Resources (ICREMER) at Akita University in Japan and Director of the Center Prof. Dr. Atsushi Shibayama, PhD.
