The University of Banja Luka Delegation at the Conference in China

Vice-Rector for Scientific Research and Development of the University of Banja Luka Prof. Aleksandar Ostojić, PhD, and Vice-Dean for Scientific Research and International Cooperation of the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Banja Luka Prof. Branimir Nježić, PhD, attended the China-CEEC (Central and Eastern European Countries) Conference on Technology Cooperation and Exchange, which was held from 18 to 22 October 2023.

Vice-Rector Ostojić and Vice-Dean Nježić attended this conference, held in the Chinese city of Nanjing, at the invitation of the Ministry of Science and Technology of Jiangsu province and Jiangsu University, with which the University of Banja Luka, together with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of the Republic of Srpska, has had a cooperation agreement since 2022. The conference was attended by representatives of eleven countries with 200 delegates.

The agricultural mechanization division at this event was opened by Vice-Rector Ostojić, who gave an opening speech, while Vice-Dean Nježić gave a plenary lecture.

The delegation of the University of Banja Luka had a series of business meetings with representatives of various universities, research institutions, the Ministry of Jiangsu province and different businessmen.  

At the reception organized by Vice-Rector of Jiangsu University Prof. Cai Jingfeng, PhD, they discussed the implementation of projects, student exchange and the establishment of a demonstration centre for agricultural machinery for Southeast Europe at the University of Banja Luka.

During this visit, our delegation visited the largest Chinese exhibition space of the Centre for Agriculture, Jiangsu University and Yangzhou University, as well as their agricultural faculties. A meeting was held at Yangzhou University with Vice-Rector Prof. Gong Weiyuan, PhD, where the possibility of establishing inter-university cooperation and a research centre in the field of agriculture was discussed. They also agreed on retuning for another visit.

The delegation also visited the company FMWORD, which deals with the production of agricultural machinery and the application of information technologies in agriculture, and the company FAMSUN, which deals with the production of silos and equipment for the preparation of food for animal nutrition.

The visit to China was organized in cooperation with the Faculty of Agriculture and the Confucius Institute of the University of Banja Luka, and the hosts were professors from Jiangsu University, Prof. Dragana Ostić, PhD, and Prof. Yong Cui, PhD.
