Faculty of Electrical Engineering Celebrated 60 Years of Work and Development
University of Banja LukaGeneralWith the Solemn Academy on 25 November 2022, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the University of Banja Luka celebrated 60 years of its work and development.
Prime minister designate Radovan Višković said that in the forthcoming period the RS authorities will focus on the faculties that educate personnel who will get employed and have well-paid jobs when they complete their studies.
He said that the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, which has good cooperation with the business sector, will in the forthcoming period have greater support of the Government of the Republic of Srpska and institutions, in terms of improving working conditions, and in order to yield as many young and quality staff as possible.
,,Today, such personnel and professions are in deficit throughout Europe, and even in the region", Višković said and added that we must find a way to retain the best students, who will at the same contribute to the development of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, the University of Banja Luka and the Republic of Srpska.
Rector of the University of Banja Luka Prof. Radoslav Gajanin, PhD, said that in the forthcoming period, with the support of the RS authorities, even better conditions should be created for studying at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Banja Luka, whose graduates are competent and competitive on the labour market of the Republic of Srpska, the region and worldwide.
Gajanin pointed out that the Faculty of Electrical Engineering has a long tradition and high-quality teaching staff, and that its students get recruited in prestigious IT companies in the Republic of Srpska and worldwide.
,,We want to keep the best students at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and in the academic community of the University after they complete their studies,” Rector Gajanin said and explained that the long-term plan is for the Faculty of Electrical Engineering to successfully develop and be located in the protected area of the University Campus.
Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering Prof. Zoran Đurić, PhD, emphasized that this higher education institution is successfully working today and training the staff needed for the industry.
„Regardless of the numerous problems we face, we try to meet the demands of the business sector,” the dean said.
During the ceremony, charter awards and plaques were presented to the individuals and institutions that have selflessly supported the development of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the University of Banja Luka. Rector of the University of Banja Luka Prof. Radoslav Gajanin, PhD, was presented with a charter award. The celebration of the sixth decade of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering was also attended by the Minister of Energy and Mining Petar Đokić, Vice-Rector for Material and Human Resources of the University of Banja Luka Prof. Dalibor Kesić, PhD, as well as other prominent guests.
The Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Banja Luka grew out of the Department of Electrical Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering in Banja Luka. The date of 24 November 1962 is considered to be the date of establishment of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, when the People’s Committee of the Municipality of Banja Luka issued the Decision on Establishment of the Faculty of Engineering with the Department of Electrical Engineering.
