Contract Signed for the Completion of Works on the Construction of the AGGF and the Faculty of Forestry Building

Rector of the University of Banja Luka Prof. Radoslav Gajanin, PhD, and Director of the company "Tekton" d.o.o. Miroslav Tešić signed a contract on 2 July 2021 for the completion of the construction of the Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy (AGGF) and the Faculty of Forestry building.

After the signing ceremony at the Rector's Office, Rector Gajanin said that the completion of the construction of this building is one of the priorities in the capital investments planned by the University.

„With the support of the Serbian member and Chairman of BiH Presidency Milorad Dodik, i.e., the Government of the Republic of Srpska, Minister of Scientific and Technological Development, Higher Education and Information Society Srđan Rajčević, MA, and Minister of Finance Zora Vidović, we set priorities in completing the appropriate capital investments in the University Campus.“, Rector Gajanin said.

Moreover, Rector Gajanin emphasized that the University will at the same time do other investments that were previously defined with the relevant ministers. They refer to the construction of a preschool education centre - a kindergarten building, construction of which is also planned within the University Campus, and the completion of the theatre stage within the IV pavilion of "Nikola Tesla" Student Centre.

Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy of the University of Banja Luka Prof. Saša Čvoro, PhD, said that the process of constructing the AGGF and the Faculty of Forestry building began ten years ago with the announcement of the conceptual architectural competition, on the basis of which the author team of the award-winning solution were to make the conceptual and main project.

„The construction started in 2012, when about 90% of the rough construction work was done. The works continued in 2017 and 2018 on a smaller scale ”, Čvoro said.

He added that today's signing of the contract is the result of the continuation of activities that began almost two years ago, thanks to the support of Rector Gajanin and with the consent of both faculties.

„As a result, the project task was redefined, the technical documentation was changed, energy efficiency was reduced, but a completely new spatial organization was created in the building, which meant that the future home of about 7,000 square meters would accommodate slightly more than 120 professors and other employees, staff of both faculties, 900 students of the Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy and 200 students of the Faculty of Forestry“, Čvoro said.

Dean of the Faculty of Forestry of the University of Banja Luka Prof. Marijana Kapović Solomun, PhD, emphasized that this is a great day for this higher education institution that has existed as part of the University of Banja Luka for 30 years.

„With the new building, we will get all the necessary conditions for setting up laboratories, and for better work of professors and students. This will create an institution that will be able to monitor the forestry y, which is the backbone of the development of the Republic of Srpska“, she said.

Banja Luka was elected as the most favourable bidding party for the completion of works on the construction of the Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy and the Faculty of Forestry building. The works are valued at BAM 6,037,200 including VAT, while the deadline for the completion of works is 270 days, taking into account the day of introducing the contractor with the works.
