University of Banja LukaGeneralThe academic year started on 5 October 2020 for students of the first-cycle studies at the University of Banja Luka.
According to the rector of the University of Banja Luka, prof. Radoslav Gajanin, PhD, and the Minister of Scientific and Technological Development, Higher Education and Information Society Srđan Rajčević, MSc, classes began in the ordinary way, and should the epidemiological situation get worse, there is a plan for online teaching in place.
Before the beginning of the "Academic Class" manifestation at the Faculty of Security Science, Rajčević said that it was decided that the teaching would be conducted in the ordinary way, with the physical presence of professors and students, who have to comply with the measures recommended by the RS Institute of Public Health.
Rector Gajanin stated that the University will comply with all epidemiological recommendations, and added that about 2 100 students have enrolled in the first year of study.
,, The number of students is higher than last year. We are satisfied, bearing in mind that secondary school graduates were about 500 students less than in the previous year.", Gajanin said and wished the students, professors and other staff at the University a happy and successful academic year.
The dean of the Faculty of Security Science, Assist. Prof. Predrag Ćeranić, PhD, pointed out that it is important for the first-year students to start their academic education in school benches and meet the professors in person, and noted that all measures will be taken to ensure that classes are conducted in safe conditions.
,,The responsibility is thus greater because we have enrolled 130 students, more than ever before. It also indicates that there is great interest in this faculty." Ćeranić said.
The best ranked student at the entrance exam at this faculty, Tamara Popović from Nevesinje, believes that during her schooling she will learn everything she needs to be an integral part of the Republika Srpska police force.
,,I am very happy to be a part of this faculty and I will do my best to justify the confidence in me and make my parents and Herzegovina proud of me.“, Popović stressed.
Other members of the University of Banja Luka also organised a welcome ceremony for their first-year students.
