Faculty of Law Marked the Jubilee
University of Banja LukaGeneralCelebration and promotion of law graduates and masters of law held at the Faculty of Law, University of Banja Luka, on 6 February 2020 was dedicated to mark 45 years of work and development of this higher education institution.
Rector of the University of Banja Luka Prof. Radoslav Gajanin, PhD, gave a speech in which he reminded us that the time we live in is not easy.
,,It is important to stress that every community, and especially the academic one, is as strong as its members are. That is exactly what can be said for the Faculty of Law, which is one of the most recognizable faculties of the University of Banja Luka, both for its professors and students, as well as for the leadership of the faculty, which has made excellent results in the past period and successfully manages this higher education institution’’, Rector said.
He said that the Faculty of Law managed to cope with all the challenges it had to face and was getting better every day.
,,Let me just remind you that the Faculty of Law had six professors and two assistants in its first year, and today more than 30 professors and assistants teach at this faculty.'', Rector said.
Rector Gajanin wished the students who had successfully completed their education at this higher education institution a lot of luck and success in all fields.
,,We live in the time when it is necessary to constantly gain knowledge in order to keep up with the world. Therefore I strongly believe that any continuation of your education will be connected to this faculty, I wish that you gain new knowledge at this faculty, at master and doctoral degree programs, as well as in the form of professional educations, specializations’’, is the rector’s message to students who were promoted at the ceremony dedicated to 45 years of the Faculty of Law.
Speaker of the RS National Assembly Nedeljko Cubrilovic used the opportunity to say that for 45 years of successful work the Faculty of Law has contributed much to the development of legal thought in the Republic of Srpska.
Cubrilovic emphasized that almost none of the more relevant acts at the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska is adopted without the opinion and view of persons who have gained their knowledge and been awarded a diploma at the Faculty of Law.
„I wish them success in the future and I hope that the development of legal science will contribute to further democratization and development of our society“, Cubrilovic said and congratulated the anniversary of the faculty to the representatives of this higher education institution, professors, graduates who were awarded a diploma and students.
Dean of the Faculty of Law Prof. Zeljko Mirjanic, PhD, said that for 45 years of work this higher education institution has become well-known in the region.
„We educate top lawyers who have for decades successfully performed the most important jobs and created the legal life here. These are prominent judges, prosecutors, attorneys, notaries“, Mirjanic emphasized and said that the Faculty of Law is proud to have a complete education system, that is, bachelor, master and doctoral degree programs.
,,There is still great interest among students to study at the Faculty of Law, University of Banja Luka’’, Mirjanic said.
RS Minister of Scientific and Technological Development, Higher Education and Information Society Srdjan Rajcevic and Dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Belgrade, Prof. Zoran Mirkovic, PhD, also gave speeches.
On the occasion of marking 45 years of its successful work, the Faculty of Law awarded meritorious individuals, professors and the best students. The Faculty also delivered charter plaques to the President of the Republic of Srpska Zeljka Cvijanovic and Consul General of the Republic of Serbia Vladimir Nikolic, as well as to Professor Marko Rajcevic, PhD, and Professor Mirjana Radjenovic, PhD.
At this event, another generation of law graduates and masters of law were promoted, with Milica Grujic being the best of them with an average mark of 9.53. She says that she has always known that she will choose law as her vocation, and that she was studying law so as to understand the legal profession the best she could.
This event was on behalf of the University also attended by Vice Rector for International and Interuniversity Cooperation Prof. Biljana Antunovic, PhD, Vice Rector for Scientific Research and University Development Prof. Goran Latinovic, PhD, Secretary General Djordje Markez, MA, Financial Director Dusko Lazic, as well as the deans of the organizational units. Furthermore, it was attended by Mayor of the City of Banja Luka Igor Radojicic, President of the Academy of Art Science and Art of the Republic of Srpska Prof. Rajko Kuzmanovic, PhD, President of the RS Constitutional Court Dzerard Selman and other distinguished guests from the Republic of Srpska and the region.
