Day of the Faculty of Agriculture Marked
University of Banja LukaGeneralOn 10 October 2019, the Day of the Faculty of Agriculture was marked by laying flowers at the bust of the first dean of the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Banja Luka Professor Petar Durman, PhD, and by the diploma awarding ceremony for 94 engineers and 6 masters of agriculture.
Rector of the University of Banja Luka Professor Radoslav Gajanin, PhD, said that the Faculty of Agriculture is one of the more recognizable faculties of the University of Banja Luka. Further to this, he praised the Faculty and its scientific research, project activities, staff potentials, etc.
Rector wished the Faculty to continue its successful work and development also in years to come, and he wished the graduates good luck in all fields.
Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Banja Luka Professor Zlatan Kovacevic, PhD, said prior to the diploma awarding ceremony that agriculture is the core of the Republic of Srpska’s development, and that with a hundred of graduates promoted by the Faculty the Republic of Srpska has a sufficient number of agricultural engineers.
„Our faculty has a well developed international cooperation and exchange of students“, Dean Kovacevic added and said that this year the Faculty had a satisfactory student enrolment.
„As of this academic year, we wll also have an experimental-educational centre on 50 hectares of land cultivated by the Faculty, which we got under concession from the relevant ministry. As the first faculty at the University, this year we will be leading the coordinating Erasmus+ program’’, Kovacevic said.
Vice Rector for Teaching and Student Issues at the University of Banja Luka Professor Strain Posavljak, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Security Sciences Assistant Professor Predrag Ceranic, PhD, Acting Director of the Institute of Genetic Resources Marina Antic, PhD, and many others attended this event.
Let us be reminded that this Faculty enrolled the first generation of students in the academic year 1992/1993.
