Memorandum on Cooperation Signed with the Sutjeska National Park
University of Banja LukaGeneralOn 4 September 2019, a Memorandum on Cooperation was signed between the University of Banja Luka and the Sutjeska National Park, Tjentiste.
The Memorandum was signed in the premises of the Battle of Sutjeska Museum by Secretary General of the University of Banja Luka Đorđe Markez, MA, and Director of Sutjeska National Park Dejan Pavlovic. The signing ceremony was also attended by Predrag Goverdarica, Senior Entrepreneurship Development Officer.
This Memorandum stipulates the cooperation in several fields as well as the participation of the University in the use of the capacities of the research and ecological center, which will be built at Tjentiste in the next half year within the cross-border cooperation project between Serbia and BiH.
It was planned that the Sutjeska National Park, the Faculty of Forestry of the University of Belgrade and the public enterprise Srbijasume jointly establish the research and ecological center. The construction work will begin soon as well as the adaptation of one of the existing devastated facilities into a center for young scientists.
Students and professors of the University of Banja Luka will be able to use the capacities of the research and ecological center, which will have laboratories, info-center and tourist facilities, as well as accommodation facilities for students, professors and other users of the center.
The Memorandum was signed as part of the first project conference ’The Cross-Border Network of Natural Heritage’. ’The Cross-Border Network of Natural Heritage’ project is worth EUR 506,000, and is funded by the European Union, with 15 percent of share of the Sutjeska National Park.
