Course in Chinese Language Successfully Completed
University of Banja LukaGeneralOn 14 June 2019, more than forty pupils from the fourth to the ninth grade of ’Vuk Stefanovic Karadzic’ Primary School in Banja Luka successfully completed the first level of the Chinese language course.
The optional Chinese language course, which was introduced in this school in the second semester this year, is free of charge in pursuit to the Cooperation Agreement between the Confucius Institute at the University of Banja Luka and the school.
“We are proud of the fact that we are the first primary school in Banja Luka to offer its pupils the opportunity to learn the basics of Chinese language and characters. We believe that it is a great cultural and educational asset for our pupils, as they have an opportunity to develop interest in learning a language that is spoken by over a billion people around the world, and which is the second most important in the world economy“, Tatjana Vilendic, the Director of ’Vuk Stefanovic Karadzic’ Primary School said.
She pointed out that in the next school year, pupils from the fourth to the ninth grade will continue learning Chinese language, and that new pupils can join the existing group.
Ljiljana Stevic, the Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Banja Luka, expressed her satisfaction with the established cooperation and great interest of pupils in this school in learning the Chinese language and culture of the People’s Republic of China.
„I am pleased with the fact that the Director of ’Vuk Stefanovic Karadzic’ Primary School has recognized the importance and advantages of knowing Chinese language and culture and she has made it possible for the pupils to start learning Chinese language from an early age," Ljiljana Stevic said.
She further stated that the Confucius Institute at the University of Banja Luka is willing as much as it can to organize optional Chinese language courses in other schools as well.
