Rector Gajanin at the Fourth Rector's Forum in Podgorica

Rector of the University of Banja Luka Prof. Radoslav Gajanin, PhD, particiated in the Fourth South East Europe and the Western Balkans Rector's Forum at the University of Montenegro on 23 and 24 April 2019.

Rectors and representatives of 30 regional universities met in Podgorica on this occasion. All the rectors of public universities from Bosnia and Herzegovina participated in the Forum.

At the Forum, the Rules of Procedure of the Rector's Forum of the universities of South East Europe and the Western Balkans was adopted and signed by the Academic Inter-Institutional Agreement on Cooperation.
This Rules of Procedure stipulate, among other things, common goals regarding the development of higher education at the regional level, fields of science and art, research and transfer of knowledge, as well as the defined plan of strengthening the academic integrity.

During the discussion on the aforementioned issues at this Forum, joint conclusions made at the previous Rector's Forum were presented and new joint conclusions were made on further actions to be taken.

They talked about the Berlin Process, which aims to support the peaceful, stable and democratic future of the Western Balkans and advance regional cooperation and European integration of the region, within which the fifth Conference will be organized at the end of May 2019 in London.

Rector of the University of Ljubljana Prof. Igor Panic, PhD, who chaired the 4th Forum, greeted all the rectors and invited them to come and celebrate 100 years of existence of the University and announced that the next Rector's Forum was to be held in Ljubljana on 4 December this year.

Rector of the University of Montenegro Prof. Danilo Nikolic, PhD, said that so far the rectors of the regional universities had concluded that there were numerous potentials for advancing the international cooperation and development perspective of the region, and that the time has come to move from specific proposals and take specific actions.

''It is now more important to transfer our common ideas to our amphitheatres, laboratories, incubators, to mobilize multidisciplinary and multi-research teams, to work on enabling open access to knowledge and information, that is, to create a common scientific databases and research infrastructures'', said Nikolic.

Rectors planted olives 

Immediately after the Forum, on 25 April the University of Montenegro marked 45 years of its work.

On that occasion, rectors and representatives of all 30 regional universities planted olives at the University campus in the light of good future cooperation with the University.
