2.000 high-school graduates attended “Open Doors Day” event
University of Banja LukaGeneralOn April 19, 2019, “Open Doors Day” at the University of Banja Luka gathered approximately 2.000 high school graduates from several cities and municipalities in the Republic of Srpska. During that day they had the opportunity to get all the important information about the study options at different Faculties of the University of Banja Luka.
Prof. Dr. Radoslav Gajanin, Rector of the University of Banja Luka, said that the graduates had the opportunity to visit Faculties they are interested in and to get acquainted with the study programs and enrollment methods, but also to get more information about entrance exams, teaching methods, and student life.
He emphasized that the University of Banja Luka, with the longest tradition in the Republic of Srpska and is the second oldest University in Bosnia and Herzegovina, offers almost all study programs, with the highest quality staff and working conditions.
“We are a member of the European Association of Universities. We fulfill all the standards of quality teaching, and are the only University in BIH that has the logo of excellence when it comes to carrying out the teaching process”, Gajanin said. He also added that students of this University have the opportunity to attend exchange programs with universities all over Europe.
According to the Rector, 43.044 students have obtained UBL bachelors, with additional of 835 master students, 1.437 magister students, and 697 doctors of science.
“We have already educated experts in almost all areas. Academic citizens who have graduated from the University of Banja Luka are successful in their line of work, and hold positions in various economic subjects and in the Republic of Srpska and abroad”, said the Rector.
He wished the graduates to choose the best Faculty for themselves and thanked the Student Parliament of the University of Banja Luka and all the students for organizing this event, emphasizing its importance when it comes to the promotion of the University.
Igor Radojičić, Mayor of Banja Luka, said that the city needs the University of Banja Luka because it is a place where tens of thousands of young people attend elementary schools, secondary schools and then the University, making it a large part of the city's potential.
Radojičić emphasized that Banja Luka provides many cultural, sporting and entertainment events.
Nemanja Babić, President of the Student Parliament of the University of Banja Luka, mentioned the importance of choosing wisely when it comes to the right selection of the profession.
He encouraged future students to choose the study programs at the University of Banja Luka.
“It is important to follow your desires, but you also need to consult the needs of the labor market. We are here to present Banja Luka as the university city, and help you select the right Faculty”, Babić says.
Nikola Dragović, Adviser to the Minister for Scientific and Technological Development, Higher Education and Information Society, spoke at the event.
Among other attendees, there were Prof. Dr. Luka Kecman, Vice-Rector for Human and Material resources, Prof. Dr. Goran Latinović, Vice-Rector for Scientific Research and Development of the University, Prof. Dr. Biljana Antunović, Vice-Rector for International and Interuniversity cooperation, Duško Topić, Director of the Student Center “Nikola Tesla” and many others.
Third in a row “Open Doors Day” at the University of Banja Luka is part of “The University of Banja Luka Students' Days”, which takes place from April 14 to 24, and it is one of the largest student projects in the Republic of Srpska this year.
During this event, students of the University of Banja Luka have the opportunity to participate in cultural, sports, educational and entertaining events.
