Meeting with the Ambassador of Japan: Discussing future collaborations
University of Banja LukaGeneralProfessor Radoslav Gajanin, Ph.D., Rector of the University of Banja Luka (UBL) and Hideyuki Sakamoto, Ambassador of Japan in Bosnia and Herzegovina, had a meeting on March 5, 2019, in the Office of the Rector, and discussed possible future collaborations.
Rector Gajanin expressed his gratitude for the visit and mentioned that this is the first time ever to host the Ambassador of Japan in Bosnia and Herzegovina at the University of Banja Luka.
It was agreed to do a survey among students at the UBL that will help analyze the demand for the study of Japanese language.
Rector Gajanin expressed his hope for a successful cooperation with Japan in the upcoming period. He also expressed his expectations when it comes to a better cooperation with universities in Japan in the field of student exchange, as well as the cooperation in the field of science.
It was confirmed that the University of Banja Luka has already established cooperation with two universities in Japan, that being Shinshu University and Meiji University.
The Ambassador mentioned that they consider Banja Luka to be an important focal point for science and education in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
He also complimented the cooperation with the staff at the University of Banja Luka, and expressed his hope for future cooperation, especially in the field of science development, as well as cooperation in the field of culture promotion and the study of Japanese language.
The meeting was also attended by Prof. Strain Posavljak, Ph.D., Vice-Rector for Teaching and Student Issues, Prof. Goran Latinović, Vice- Rector for Scientific Research and University Development, and Prof. Aleksandar M. Lazarević, Ph.D.
