A lecture at the Faculty of Medicine

Prof. Dr. med. univ. Milomir Ninković, the world’s famous expert in the field of plastic surgery, presented a lecture titled "Solving Problems in Plastic Surgery through Innovation and Creativity" at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Banja Luka on March 16, 2019.

“The main purpose of this lecture was to motivate young people and show them that medicine develops daily. If you come across a problem and define it, you can look up the solution. There are always better solutions than those offered in textbooks, or those suggested by the older colleagues. Both creativity and innovation are important”, said Prof. Ninković after presenting the lecture to students, doctoral students and specialists in surgical branches of medicine.

Milomir Ninković is an eminent expert in plastic surgery. He is known for introducing a series of new methods, and was the first in the world to do a transplant of the forearm and hand from a dead donor. He also performed the first reconstruction of the muscle layer of the bladder with the muscle taken from the back, as well as the reconstruction of the lips with the help of a free lobe from the thigh.

He is a professor at the Faculty of Medicine at the Technical University in Munich. He has been working at the University Hospital in Innsbruck, Austria since 1992, and in 2003 he was positioned as the Chief of Staff at the Bogenhausen Hospital, Department of Plastic, Reconstructive, Hand and Burn Surgery.
