XVII annual exhibition of Academy of Arts students
GeneralOn 14 June 2018, on the premises of the Academy of Arts of the University of Banja Luka, the 17th annual exhibition of students’ works was opened, featuring paintings, drawings, mosaics, photographs, and graphic design pieces.
On the following day, the students attending the subject of Intermedial art presented their works in the galleries of the Contemporary Arts Museum of the Republic of Srpska.
The ceremony was opened by the address of Prof. Sanda Dodik, Dean of the Academy, who commended the work of both professors and students, pointing out the fact that they had an opportunity to present to public the fruits of their work throughout an academic year, unlike other faculties.
‘Given the fact that there is little exhibition room in our city, we have turned our building into one, so, apart from these corridors, there are several more facilities for you to check in your search for works of art’, said the Dean.
As for the significance of such an event for the city of Banja Luka, Ms Natalija Trivic, Head of the Department of Culture, Tourism, and Social Policy of the City Administration said that ‘we are aware of the fact that it is students who should be fully involved in creating the image of the city. We are going to make certain locations in the city available to those who want to exhibit their works of art, and it has already been agreed with the dean of the Academy to turn some of the premises of the City Hall into an exhibition room. Cultural contents should be within reach of every individual’.
Following her address, Ms Tanja Djakovic, Assistant Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Srpska, said that ‘this is not just a traditional exhibition, but the exhibition as old as the Academy itself. There is an artistic potential, an opportunity to create a society that critically questions the reality, offers solutions for improving its own self, and is able to resist low-quality cultural contents’.
