Faculty of Science a partner in BloW-UP PROJECT: Utilizing nano-technology to produce new lubricants
University of Banja LukaGeneralOn May 15, 2017, the first meeting was held between the partners in the two-year-long international BloW-uP PROJECT at the Faculty of Science, University of Banja Luka. The project worth 120, 000 Euros is the first one of that kind in the Republic of Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina to be fully financed by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology.
The event gathered the representatives of renowned partner institutions from four European countries (Italy, Spain, Bulgaria, Finland), along with the representatives of the Faculty of Science and two local companies, aiming at transferring the know-how into the countries of East and Southeast Europe and supporting the development of new applications for better management of raw materials and waste. Another benefit of the project is strengthening of cooperation between scholarly institutions and companies, especially through the form of public-private partnership, and enabling practical application of scholarly research in developing new products/ processes from waste material.
The practical result of the project is going to be the design of a pilot-product, that is, a special lubricant with nano-iron as additive, to be produced by one of the aforementioned local companies, thus making both the Faculty of Science and the Republic of Srpska globally visible in terms of the nanotechnology industry.
