The meeting was organized with the idea of taking concrete steps in the cooperation that was made official by an agreement from 2014, with the emphasis on project activities of the Primorska University funded through the Horizon 2020 programme and other structural investment funds accessible to subjects from Slovenia as a member-country of the European Union, as well as on the possibility of involvement of our University into such activities.

On this particular occasion, the representatives of the Primorska University made a presentation of their centre of excellence for research and innovation in the area of renewable sources and healthy environment as part of the project of the same title in which this university has been the carrier and co-founder of the centre (Renewable Materials and Healthy Environments Research and Innovation Centre of Excellence-InnoRenew CoE). In addition, they made their host familiar with the activities and goals of the Innovative Renewable Materials Uses Living Laboratory-LL InnoRenew, where 68 different national and international research and development institutions (universities included), small and medium-size businesses, multinational companies and agencies, coming from 23 different countries (EU countries, countries from the region of former Yugoslavia, Russia, USA, New Zealand) have taken part.

Also discussed were current educational projects taking place on both universities, especially those within the Erasmus mundus and Erasmus+ programmes, as well as possibilities of advancing the existing student and staff exchange and visiting professors.
Furthermore, the significance of internationalization of study programmes, of making them as interdisciplinary as possible was mentioned, upon which some such programmes at the second and third cycles were presented.

The delegation from Kopar also pointed out that they had been awarded the organization of the 8th European Congress of Mathematicians, to be held in 2020, which is an excellent opportunity of making the mathematicians from the Balkans ‘more visible’, and they invited our experts from the field to take part.

In the end, Prof. Dragan Marusic gave a lecture titled ‘Symmetry in graphs’ on the premises of the Faculty of Science to all the students of our University.
