42 years from establishing the Faculty of Economics

At the ceremony held on 6 February 2017, the 42nd anniversary of establishing the Faculty of Economics of the University of Banja Luka was marked, and BA and MA in Economics were promoted. Also, it was an occasion for the most important results achieved in the previous year to be presented and most successful students and members of the teaching staff to be awarded.

Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Stanko Stanić, said that 46% of 12,233 students have completed their studies at the Faculty through those years; 264 became MA in Economics, and 74 became PhD in Economics. He added that more than 50 textbooks, monographs and manuals, as well as about 4,000 scientific articles and more than 1,000 resulted from the scientific work of the members of the teaching staff.

On behalf of the University of Banja Luka, the Rector, Prof. Milan Mataruga, congratulated the anniversary and pointed out that this was one of the Faculties that are very important for the development of the University, since it was established before it. Furthermore, he said that students, graduates, and teaching staff of the Faculty have an essential role for economic development of BIH.

Additionally, the Minister of Science and Technology of the Republic of Srpska, Jasmin Komić, also addressed the audience, and said that our greatest development opportunity development was knowledge, as well as that he believed that, among those graduates, there probably were future presidents, ambassadors, and diplomats.

Finally, the awards were provided to Professors Milivoje Krčmar and Dragutin Šipka, administration workers Marija Domuz and Danica Savičić, and students Bojan Kresojević, Milica Marić and Jelica Rastoka. Also, traditionally, scholarships from ‘Radovan Ribić’ Foundation were awarded to the best sophomore students: Elvis Mujkić, Brankica Pralica, and Ana Petrušić.
