Info day on the COST programme held at the University of Banja Luka
University of Banja LukaGeneralThe University of Banja Luka, the COST office from Brussels and the Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina organized on March 3, 2016 at the Faculty of Political Sciences, University of Banja Luka, an info day during which the local research community was introduced to the European Cooperation in Science and Technology program, also known as COST.
Addressing the attendees on behalf of of the host, the Vice-rector for Science and Research, Milan Mataruga, PhD, Full Professor, reminded that the event was one in the series of info days organized by the University that referred to some of the segments of the Horizon 2020 program, and added that this was a unique opportunity for researchers from the University to become familiar with the opportunity to participate in the COST program and ways in which they can do it, that is with the advantages it offers.
Siniša Marčić, Assistant Minister in the Ministry of Science of the Government of the Republic of Srpska, also praised the organization of this event emphasizing that through the COST program students were given an opportunity to become part of the European research network in a faster and easier way, that is to connect with other researchers in the European Union and apply for different projects.
Mr Christer Halén, a representative of the COST office from Brussels, spoke to the attendees about what COST is, how it functions, what COST actions are and how to apply for them, how to prepare a successful proposal of a COST action, and he also shared some positive experiences and examples from practice.
Milan Mataruga, PhD, Full Professor, presented more details on the participation of researchers from the University of Banja Luka in COST actions, while similar experiences were shared by Dalibor Drljača from the Europroject Centre in Banja Luka.
The participation of our country in COST actions was generally reviewed by Amar Miraščija, a representative from the Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the national coordinator for COST.
