Sixth international scientific congress ‘Anthropological aspects of sport, physical education and recreation’
University of Banja LukaGeneralOn Nov 6-7 2014 the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports of the University of Banja Luka hosted the sixth international scientific congress ‘Anthropological aspects of sport, physical education and recreation’.
This event gathered over a hundred experts from the field of sports science from the territor yof the former Yugoslavia. ‘We expect the professors and researchers coming from the faculties from Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina to contribute largely, through their papers, to the field of physical education and sports’, pointed out Prof. Simo Vukovic, the Dean of the Faculty at the opening ceremony.
He also used this opportunity to acquaint the present with the fact that the Faculty, at the ninth congress of FIEP (Fédération Internationale d’Education Physique), held in Sofia, Bulgaria in October this year, had been appointed the host of the eleventh congress of this federation, which is to be held on Sep 14-18 2016.
‘This way the Federation showed a great respect to the Faculty. Such an event is of enormous significance not only for the Faculty, but also for the city of Banja Luka and the Republic of Srpska’, added the Dean, and thanked all those who helped the Faculty gain the organization of this event.
The participants and guests of the Congress were addressed by the Rector of the University, Prof. Stanko Stanic, pointing out the significance of the fact that the Faculty organized this event for the sixth time already, gathering experts from the field, which proves that the staff pay a lot of attention to science and research. ‘A sign of dedication is also publishing of the Sportlogia, a highly-ranked journal’, continued the Rector, making a wish that the Congress be a general rehearsal for the event scheduled in two years’ time.
The opening ceremony was also attended by the Minister of Education and Culture of the Government of the Republic of Srpska, Prof. Goran Mutabdzija, and Minister of Family, Youth and Sports, Ms Nada Tesanovic, who said that the congresses of this type were not a common sight, and congratulated the Faculty on the fact that they, despite financial difficulties, managed to gather numerous experts for the countries of the Western Balkans, whose contributions would result in new practices.
