University of Banja LukaGeneralThe third regional workshop within the Eureqa Tempus project (Empowering Universities to fulfil their responsibility for Quality Assurance) was held on 4th and 5th September 2014 at the University of Banja Luka.
It is a project conducted by the European University Association (EUA) in cooperation with the institutions of higher education in the European Union and Western Balkans (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, Kosovo*), aiming at, through transferring experiences from Western European universities, establishing an efficient system of quality assurance, adjusted to different national and institutional contexts, and providing training to key members of staff dealing with the matters of quality assurance at their respective institutions.
The project is being realized through multiple activities, the most important of which being the workshops where the work is organized in four task groups, with one representative of each university taking part in each task group.
At the workshop held in Banja Luka the activities focused on developing methodologies and tools for gathering and processing background information on teaching process. The participants were provided with an opportunity to find out information on designing, that is, elaborating questionnaires used for students’ polls, what methodology to use in order to gain as credible results as possible, how to analyze and process the results gained and, in the end, what steps to take regarding the results, that is, use them as an initiative to improve teaching process at the institutions of higher education.
Apart from being provided with answers to all the previous questions, the workshop was also rated as a very successful one regarding the ultimate goal of quality assurance, reflecting itself in the key members of staff being trained to develop action plan for establishing quality assurance system at those universities where the system still has not been established or upgrading it at the universities where it already exists, as is the case at the University of Banja Luka.
