University of Banja Luka is going to present a proposal to the President of the Republic of Srpska for the decoration of the Students' Union and Students' Parliaments of both public universities in the Republic of Srpska

The University of Banja Luka is going to present a proposal to the President of the Republic of Srpska for the decoration of the Students' Union of the Republic of Srpska, Students' Parliament of the University of Banja Luka and the Students' Parliament of the University of Istocno Sarajevo respectively, for expressing their patriotism, solidarity and readiness to help the population of the Republic of Srpska affected by the recent floods in their most difficult moments.

This is one of the conclusions from the meeting of the Steering Committee of the University in Banja Luka, held on 9 June 2014, when also the Report on activities of the Headquarters for coordination of assistance for people affected by floods and the engagement of students and employees of the University of Banja Luka in the flooded areas was discussed and adopted.



On that occasion, the Steering Committee expressed their gratitude and paid tribute to the Headquarters and Students' Parliament of the University of Banja Luka, that is, to students who participated in the activities of cleaning the flooded areas, as well as all the employees of the University who also took part in these activities. Special tribute by the Steering Committee was paid to the chairman of the Headquarters, the Vice-Rector, Prof. Drasko Marinkovic, his deputy, the Vice-Rector Prof. Milan Mataruga, and the chairman of the Students' Parliament, Mr. Mladen Amovic.

In addition, the Steering Committee supported the conclusions of the Deans' Board that the University of Banja Luka was to send special written acknowledgements to all the higher education and other institutions that had helped the University by providing the equipment used in cleaning activities in the flooded areas.

At the same time, the conclusion was reached to form a task force made up of authorized services of the University and the management of the Institute for the Genetic resources with the aim of preparing activities at the University of Banja Luka for the realization of the project for flood protection of the Student Campus in Bulevar vojvode Petra Bojovica Street, as well as all other facilities of the University. The conclusion of the Deans' Board to update the Action plan of the University of Banja Luka in emergency situations was also supported.

The members of the Steering Committee unanimously agreed upon the fact that all the necessary support should be provided for the students and employees of the University who were affected by floods. The resources for this purpose are going to be provided from funds raised based on voluntary donations of the empolyees.
