University of Banja LukaGeneralA PhD student at the University of Vaasa, Finland, Mr. Nebojsa Dimic, held a lecture today at the Faculty of Economics, University of Banja Luka, entitled “Structure, Financing and Organisation of Doctoral Studies at the Universities in Finland”.
During the lecture, which attracted great interest, Mr. Dimic shared his experience with those present and gave many useful words of advice as regards the doctoral studies and the writing of a doctoral dissertation at one of the world’s most prestigious universities.
How the lectures and exams are organised, how to finance the studies, what to pay attention to when choosing the dissertation topic and what elements have to be taken into account in order for the dissertation to pay the required scientific contribution, are just some of the questions that Mr. Dimic had to give answers to.
Reminding one of the fact that Finland has one of the best educational systems in the world, that the conditions for studying are outstanding and that annual investments for research exceed seven billion euros, Mr. Dimic expects that today’s lecture will be a kind of incentive for students and researchers at the University of Banja Luka to apply for doctoral studies in Finland.
Vice-Rector for Science and Research at the University of Banja Luka, Prof. Milan Mataruga, who organised the lecture together with Vice-Dean for Science and Research at the Faculty of Economics, Prof. Dragan Mikerevic, thanked the guest and expressed his conviction that the information presented would be useful both for the students who plan on enrolling in doctoral programmes and for the professors and assistants at the University of Banja Luka, since the introduction of doctoral studies in accordance with the Bologna principles is in the initial phase.
